One of my favorite things about being a makeup artist is getting to be a part of the most special day of a Bride’s life. Edmonton Winter Wedding
I met Mary when I was the makeup artist for her engagement photos and I immediately noticed what a luminous person she was.
We talked quietly and beautiful music played in the background. She explained her nervousness at having her makeup done as she is a woman of color and had experienced some not-so-great makeup artists in the past who weren’t able to match her skin tone, and because she was a natural beauty who really stayed away from wearing much makeup.
After our hour together, Mary’s mind was at ease and she looked fresh and beautiful for her engagement photos – (you can view them here.)
Of course I was thrilled when she asked me to be her makeup artist for her beautiful Edmonton Winter Wedding as well!
Sharyar from Box Cube Photography captured some amazing pictures of her special day, and I’m so happy to share them!
Here’s what Mary had to say about her makeup that day:
“Krystle is a gifted make-up artist and I’d recommend her for your wedding. She has a relaxed attitude that makes you feel comfortable and safe. She also has professional experience that you can rely on. I thought maybe the make-up was too much but she reassured me we needed more for the pictures. I’m so glad I listened to her!
She also did my mom’s makeup and she truly looked like a different person.
Wedding guests have asked me since the wedding who did my make-up and some want her to do their faces for fun!
Krystle can also do ethnic make-up. I was a bit worried about that but no matter your skin colour or type she has you covered.
As an aside, Krystle even picked me up from my hair appointment! Long story and not part of her services offered but she is just that cool. I highly recommend this make-up artists for your wedding or other events.”
For Mary’s Bridal look we opted for a perfect base using the Smashbox Photo Finish Primer, Make Up For Ever foundation, and a gorgeous Make Up For Ever cream blush. An elegant winged liner, lashes, sculpted brows and a bright but sheer coral lip stain finished the look.
There’s something really beautiful about having someone trusting you to make them feel their most radiant and comfortable before such a life changing occasion, especially when photos are involved that can be passed down for generations.
For a few short hours I get to be their rock, grounding and encouraging them while my skilled hands bring out the things they most love about their appearance, noticing the things that make them sparkle and being a calm and gentle ally on what can often be a very hectic morning.
